Spring Day at Bentley University
I was tasked with creating the brand identity for the University's biggest event of the year. "Spring Day" is a week-long celebration, ending with a large concert on campus. The logo is utilized in various promotional marketing, including but not limited to: teasers, informational posters, a-frames, and memorabilia (i.e., t-shirts, hats, mugs, and bags). Spring Day marketing is distributed campus-wide to students to celebrate the end of the semester or academic year.
This was my first large project as a HYPE Graphic Design Specialist. This project was a pivotal moment in my career, expanding my skillset and preparing me for my transition as HYPE Creative Director.
User Needs and Client Requests
The Campus Activities Board (CAB) came forward with a request to HYPE for a logo that encapsulates the idea of being at summer camp. Prior to creating the logo, I looked into summer camp logos and archived photos of Bentley from the 1980's. I wanted to create a shirt that could be passed down to generations or kept in a keepsake box. Inspired by our school's symbol, the library, I wanted to incorporate it into the logo. Additionally, knowing that some of the memorabilia would be t-shirts and patches, I was driven to create a logo that would complement those additions.
"Spring Day" and "Spring Week" Schedule
This was one of my first feats of organizing significant amounts of text on a graphic. This project was challenging, especially creating various digital dimensions. Looking back, I believe these graphics could have been improved and made more digestible for the reader. However, in future projects, I aimed to create programming schedules that were creative yet communicated effectively.
